shelf life
it must be brooding season. a female columnist in "the sunday times"—putting a spring in every woman's step, i'm sure—urges women everywhere to "settle" for whatever they can get husband-wise (see article here). a proper cheerupper.

This lady is suffering a serious case of grass-is-greener... I am sad for her.
Ah yes. I read this gem in the Atlantic awhile ago. Perfectly awful because while I can see letting go of airy-fairy ideals of youth is wise, I don't equate that with settling--and settling is just sad. --a&v
i wonder, is it the callow way of youth which bids us not to put up with someone who has halitosis? what if he's gassy? is that, finally, a so-called "deal breaker"?
Halitosis and gassyness can be solved--or at least masked. What if Mr. Wonderful-in-Every-Other-Way was struck with those afflictions? I could overlook it. Might be tough, though. ;) --a&v
i say you'd need a st. francis of assisi-sized heart to "settle" for those things. personally i think those with halitosis and gas should be isolated in their own personal containment bubbles.
