if it wasn't for single people. let's face it. married or attached couples spend all their time enjoying (or not enjoying) each other's company. usually at home. that employs no one.

single people, however, have lots of spare time. they are forever taking evening classes, doing amateur theatricals, volunteering for stuff, participating in stuff, holidaying, grooming grooming grooming, glamorising their wardrobes, keeping internet dating agencies flush with cash, single-handedly sustaining the bar, club and restaurant industry, and doing a million other things to try and meet someone in an effort to stop being single. that's why there are more single people than ever now. living alone. it's a cruel necessity.
