saw "amélie". nice. not marvellous. just nice. boo: it's self-conscious quirkiness/oddness. yay: the sepia-looking cinematography, audrey's hair and clumpy shoes. (now you know why i don't write reviews for "film comment".)

Ah, but I thought the quirkiness (self-conscious, sure, but delightedly so, I thought) was refreshing. To each his/her own, I suppose. I agree with the clumpy shoes--her little ankles/calves sprouting from the shoes gave Amelie a charming Olive Oyl look.
