as a male in mixed company

you can either think "every woman in this room fancies me" or "no woman is this room fancies me". maybe mr collins is on to something by adopting the sunnier attitude?

Mr Collins is a very wise man. In a not so wise way.

Or, and I realise this is controversial, you could think that the woman flicking her hair and eyeing you up from the other side of the table probably fancies you and the rest might not...?

And I have a hunch it might be a wise idea not to apply Mr Collins' wisdom to life...

Lady Tottington would not like Mr Collins.

but lady catherine de b. presumably does. don't you love the supercilious way he addresses elizabeth as "cousin"?

In Somers - and it's very lovely.

He's hysterical, when he compliments the Bennet's on their cooking - and his little 'olive branch'.
