boo is too strong a criticism for "amélie". it was a little too cute. though i liked the intrepid gnome.

I agree there are parts that try too hard but I disagree the whole film does. I did find it charming and whimsy and poignant and eccentric in all great ways....
amelie is my nickname... still haven't seen the film!
It is one of my favourite films... because of its quirkiness... and the surreal nature of the cinematography...
Hey! You edited your post! That isn't allowed! But you are allowed to find the film too cute, even if some of us more female types respectfully disagree. :) (eye of the beholder and all that)
Indeed a little too cute. But I liked it. Bubble gum TV perhaps, but there's a place for it in my heart nevertheless.
I didn't really like Amélie. I seem to recall thinking "Cute" at the end but then I promptly forgot everything.
